About the album, the band explained:
'Mustard Melodies' is a refined version of our sound. Our first album was about us having fun, figuring it out and recording random songs in a bedroom that we thought sounded cool. We had to arrange the songs differently live and realised there was a certain "magic" in our sound, and that it translated really well with live drums, electric guitars and trying to sound as loud as possible.'Mustard Melodies' is us trying to capture this live energy and demonstrate our constant tug of war between genres.
We've got rock, pop, hip-hop, funk, indie and everything else in-between. It was recorded mostly in Pirate Studios in the north of Dublin, while still recording at home, to maintain our independent sound. This album is something we are really proud of and we have put a ton of work into this project. 'Mustard Melodies' isn't just Sauce Gang Collective defined, it defines all of us as friends and individuals. It has its high, fun moments and it has its low sad moments. It's us as a collective, having fun and willing to share our fun with anyone else willing to join us.
